Avery Brewing Company The Maharaja Imperial IPA- 10%, 102 IBU’s
purchased at
LeClair’s General Store Fayetteville, NC

Appearance: Pours an amber/copper hue with a quickly dissipating white head fading to slight lacing on the glass.

Aroma: sweet citrus and malt, grainy, with resin on the end

Taste: initially sweet with notes of citrus, honey and light toffee, finishing with a subtle piney bitterness.

Body: mouth-coating without being sticky, mild carbonation with a moderately lasting bitter finish.

Overall: I had this beer years ago from a bomber bottle, it was my first introduction into “big beers” with higher ABV’s. I remember being thoroughly impressed at the approachability of this Imperial IPA, and I guess years later, from a can, I remain impressed. Sweet but not dessert, a very balanced IIPA, just watch out that 10% ABV can sneak up quickly.
