About Me

JoelBeer is anything but Basic! Beer is a unique melding of science, art, and creative inspiration, formed into a social liquid that encapsulates the greatest achievements of human civilization. At the pinnacle of most advanced civilizations, through our spotted fragile human history, there has always been beer. Beer is truly a symbol of the grandest of human achievements.

I have worked in craft beer for several years. But… you may have noticed my attire in the attached picture so I’ll answer the burning questions… “No, this isn’t Halloween.”, “No, this isn’t my little black dress that I slip on for dress-up.”, “Yes, that’s really me.” As a hiatus from beer (but not really) I spent three years in an Episcopal Seminary earning my Masters of Theological Studies with a focus on Ascetical Theology and Monastic Communities. Beside for living under the Rule of Saint Benedict and studying my ass off, I had the pleasure of being Master Barkeep at our Student Pub,

After school I returned to working in Craft Beer, achieving my Cicerone Certified Beer Server Status and now I am currently working toward becoming a Certified Cicerone. A passion for knowledge, experience, and greater mystery is central to my being, kind of like experiencing a great beer. As I began, Beer is not Basic… but it is connected to the very fabric of who we are as humans. I look forward to journeying and experiencing with you. Hit me up, drop a line, leave comments… Let’s make Beervangelists of us all!
