Today is International Women’s Day where we celebrate strong, determined, pioneering women who have impacted our lives, our communities, and our world.
I would be amiss if I didn’t take a moment (though truthfully it would take a lifetime) to thank the powerful women who have impacted my life. The truth is the greatest lessons I have learned about being a man have been from the dynamic women in my life. My mother Dee, a Breast Cancer survivor who has beaten the odds and refused to become a statistic. My mother in-law, Brenda, who has been a bulwark of faithfulness and hope as she stood by my Father in-law as he slowly passed away with dementia. My little sis Michelle, who just never gives up. My adopted sis Tomni who lost her dearest love to Cancer but hasn’t lost love. My incredible and enduring wife Robyn who is the better part of me, if you know us then I know you agree. My four beautiful daughters, who are becoming powerful women of their own, don’t forget I need your hugs for strength. My Nana Bunny, where you are now, please pray for my strength. To all the women who have helped, held, lead, and patiently prayed for me… Thank You. Your treasure is greater to me then all this world could offer.
The featured picture is of one of my favorite North Carolina Brews, Hell Yes Ma’am, from Raleigh Brewing Company. RBC was started by Kristie Nystedt, the first woman to own a brewery in the state of North Carolina. If you get the chance to try it then do, its a dynamic Belgian Golden Ale with an incredible story.
Thanks to all the Aunts, Friend’s Mothers, Sisters (Tiffany, Leigh, Reyana, Allison, Katlin), and all the women who have been an inspiration to me. Your journey has been difficult but I pray that our future recognizes the sacrifice and incredible untamed spirit of woman. Be blessed on this day’s end, I know I am because of you.
