Appearance: dark black ale with a beautiful 1 inch beige head that lasted the entire pint
Aroma: sweet cocoa powder, strong milk/cream, sight roasted coffee latte-ish aroma
Taste: sweetened milk chocolate, mild chocolate bitterness on the finish but barely noticeable
Body: moderate to thick body, milky, creamy, smooth
Overall: I have drank so many Imperial Cocoa Bombs in recent times that beers like this can leave me squinting for the nuances. So let me back away from my overindulgent Bacchus-styled ales and give a fair assessment. Milk Stout Nitro is a very balanced beer with one hand in the roasted dark malts and the other in creamy lightly sweetened milk. This is undeniably a stout but leaves itself approachable for those who may fear the dark beers, and this is exactly why Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro constantly ranks high in popular scoring.
*POUR HARD- because this is a Nitro it needs to be poured aggressively, as in turning the container completely over your 16oz glass and let gravity do the trick. (it won’t overflow unless your glass isn’t 16oz) Nitrogen is sluggish and needs to be invigorated by an aggressive pour, trust me the the creamy rich body is worth the risk.
