Purchased at Grapes & Hops III
Appearance: Dark Jet Black Stout with a thin cocoa ring around the edge of the glass
Aroma: Roasted malts, chocolate, a little bit of grape bubble gum meets Baptist communion
Taste: Definite dark chocolate with oaky finish, but a predominate grape juice throughout the flavor. Very rich grape bubble gum meets welches concord grape juice. Not too sweet or overly bitter, very balanced for coming in at 60 IBU’s
Body: moderate body with a good mouthfeel but nothing sticky, slight dry alcohol finish.
Overall: This was a pleasant adaption of a traditional Russian Imperial Stout. The Syrah Grape Must gave a nice fruitiness that countered any dark chocolate, hoppy bitterness. This was overall a very enjoyable balanced stout.
