Appearance: lush ebony black with a tidy caramel colored head
Aroma: slightly boozy, cocoa and dark chocolate, roasted bitterness with an essence tootsie roll & slight fruit
Taste: rich dark chocolate, sweet candied blackberry, like a raspberry filled valentine chocolate. the fruits are there very akin to a Belgian Quad… delightfully boozy finish
Body: full rich mouthfeel with lasting dark chocolate bitterness on the finish
Overall: I honestly love a lot of the big beers that Southern Pines puts out, and this one is no different. This stands apart from their other big cocoa bombs with the rich dark fruits. I have already had this beer a couple of times and I can’t get enough. (Though at 16oz & 13% ABV one is typically enough for an evening.)
